Attending the monthly meetings has become an essential part of my routine. I make sure to book it out of my diary because I truly enjoy and benefit from each meeting. As a start-up business, I was surprised and interested to learn that a local business network group was operating nearby. I felt a little self-conscious with a sense of imposter syndrome and wondered what I would get out of the meeting. I got a great sense of camaraderie, a genuine feeling that people were interested in what I was doing, and a feeling that everyone was keen to see me succeed. I have subsequently joined the network as a paid member, and as I have got to know the other members, I look forward to the meetings and exchanging stories, discussing issues, and listening to guest speakers. I joined the WDBC as I was just starting out in my business. The group was incredibly supportive and had some great insight to share. I was incredibly anxious when it came to being in a group of established business owners but this all soon faded away. My confidence in myself has grown and grown with the support of the committee and other members. Now, two years on, I’m still gaining so much from being a part of this group.
